Glorifying God by making disciples

Youth

1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”

Our Purpose: The purpose of youth ministry at Cornerstone is to reach out to all youth and have them join our celebration of Christ; guiding them to a commitment and through “soul training” to become messengers of Christ. We are 100% committed to leading all youth to become disciples of Jesus Christ. We encourage parents to become involved in this process, as the primary spiritual authority for their youth. To accomplish this purpose we provide.

Youth Fellowship: Youth Fellowship is open to youth in grades 6 thru 12. It meets at Cornerstone on Wednesday evenings, 7 – 8:30pm, and includes Bible study and discussion. Bible study is expository in nature and is led by the youth leaders. It is planned to clarify and lead the youth into a deeper understanding of God through His Word and spur them to greater devotion and discipleship. After Bible study, youth may participate in games or further discussion.

Prior to Youth Fellowship, each Wednesday, youth and their parents are encouraged to attend the church-wide Wednesday Worship & Celebration.

Youth Bible Fellowship (YBF): These are open mid-size groups that meet on Sunday mornings between 9:30 and 10:30am at Cornerstone. They study specific portions of the Bible. Their emphasis is on learning what the Word of God says, fellowship and care. The lessons are specifically geared toward and designed to encourage discussion of issues that youth face today. Currently, two such groups meet at Cornerstone weekly. They are:

– YBF Senior High for youth in grades 9 thru 12. This group meets in room #104.

– YBF Junior High for youth in grades 6 thru 8. This group meets in room #105.

Youth Spiritual Growth Groups: At Cornerstone, Youth Spiritual Growth Groups are small (between 10 and 20 people), semi-closed groups (anyone may attend but group members are expected to commit to attending every meeting possible). They meet weekly to study a portion of the Bible. Their emphasis is on deeper understanding and commitment to Biblical principles and the application of those principles to life. We encourage all youth who participate in the life of Cornerstone to join a Youth Spiritual Growth Group. Currently groups meet on:

– Thursday Evenings at 7pm*

*There are seats open in this group immediately. Speak to one of our pastors if you are interested in joining.

New Youth Spiritual Growth Groups will form as needed. If you are interested in joining but this time does not fit your schedule, speak to one of the pastors, call the church office at 610-384-1375 or email the church office atfbccoatpa@aol.com or the Youth Pastor at PEJensen1@aol.com.

Sunday Evening Special Elective Classes: Regularly special topical studies are offered for adults and youth at Cornerstone. Theses classes meet from 4 to 5:30pm on Sunday afternoons at Cornerstone. They cover topics such as Biblical creationism and evolution, what the Bible says about dating, etc. These classes are open to all youth and are presented at special times throughout the year.

Special Events: These events occur throughout the year. They may include retreats of various kinds, attendance at the Creation East Festival, traveling and helping put on a praise concert at the Jersey Shore, attendance at religious concerts and events as a group, etc.

Cornerstone also hosts an outdoor Christian music festival each September known as Souled Out. Everyone is invited to attend this event whether they come to Cornerstone or not.

Ministry Opportunities: We encourage our youth to grow in their walk with Christ by serving others. Our youth serve in Children’s ministry, in the praise band, in technical aspects of Sunday celebrations, etc.
